October 1st - October 31st Photography Challenge

Hi and welcome to October Photography Challenge:flower2:

A vintage effect is today popular to use at photos. I found a tutorial using the blend mode exclusion to get it and I would like to share it with you. Exclusion isnīt a blend mode I use so much, but this way allows you to get the tint in the way you prefer. Hereīs the link:

http://www.thecoffeeshopblog.com/2010/01/coffeeshop-editing-101-loving-navy-blue.html

Your challenge is to use the tutorial on a photo of your own choice and post your before and after photos here so we all can see them.

Hereīs mine

and just look what our wonderful CT girls did with the tutorial:

This is an interesting challenge. I often use the exclusion blend mode on papers, but not on photos. We spend so much effort in restoring the faded photos from the 50's, 60's and 70's to correct the colors, and now we take our good photos and deliberately turn them back to what age did to our photos from the past.

That's so true, we age what's new and we restore what's old. it's what keeps us busy and interested I guess :giggle: I loved the challenge Ulla-May! As always!

I usually make old things look new also so this is a first. :25r30wi: Here is mine. I was able to adapt it to PSP since I use that program more than any other.

All tutorials are helpful to me! I still class myself as a learner when it comes to blending modes (I love using them but it's all by trial and error!). It does give a very atmospheric effect.

This tuto is awesome, I never ever knew how to use that exclusion mode, and I couldn't stop myself for trying new colors and add other layers instead of working ;)

Here is my picture :

And another I made adding a yellow layer in overlay mode, I really love how it came out.

There are some great results here! I think I perhaps could have done with choosing a better quality photo to start with (this is a scanned photo and it wasn't in great focus either).

I've never used a colour fill layer before, so it was fun to play!

Here is my effort for this month's challenge. I found it rather difficult, mostly I suppose, because I have albums full of faded photos which I laboriously try to change!

However, it was interesting and another skill learned. What fun these challenges are.
