Hi All! I'm using CS1...
I want to make a square donut (a box shape with a "hole" in the middle)
I want the text to only go " on the donut" and not in the "hole"
and I can't get it to work. I've looked for tutorials and didn't find one that helped... I tried all sorts of things (even some which HAVE worked in the past, at least I remember them so)... they didn't work, I can get the text to go around the donut (on the path) but I can't get the cursor to have that little dotted circle that lets you type inside the path.... and I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

I have pictures in the middle of my page, and I want to put the journalling under it but I don't want journalling under the pictures because I want all the words to be visible....

am I asking too much? can you explain how to do this or point me to a good tutorial (video or pictures would help a lot in a tute!).....

I'm about to pull out my hair... :27973:

This is weird, I found a work around by adding all sorts of little boxes around the "donut" rather than trying to remove the "hole" from the larger box.... seems to work, but I still have NO idea what I'm doing in that respect.. so any directions/tutes/etc would be appreciated for next time.......... still a bit :27973: though

I've been trying and trying on this--the only thing I can think of is that you'll have to draw the shape with a very thin dividing space along one of the sides, so that it's not a totally solid shape.

bad ascii representation, but imagine the lines as thick as you want--just don't connect them entirely. Or--so that the type flows better, actually make two u's

n
u

like that.

I even tried that ..... and it didn't work, maybe I was overlapping though. I'll try to see next time (if I ever dare again)... in the end adding shapes where I *wanted* text was the easiest... weird huh?
I tell you, for all its virtues, PS/CS has some things that just don't make sense!!!

Thanks Heather... I'll try that next time, though, with all my mucking about, I found out that you CAN, yes, you CAN, change a text box shape once it's all set and the text is inside... you can move the nodules around (if that's what they are called... the *points*)!!! I was so excited!!! Though, not sure I could remember how I did it!!!

To move the corner boxes around, you use the white arrow under the pen tool (it might be hidden under the black arrow at first--use the black arrow to move the whole shebang around, the white just to move points). Glad you got it to work!

hmm, I don't have a white arrow, just one that looks like a ^ a bit on the side...
Ah, I just found the white arrow!!! Yay!!!
