so earth hour is nearly here in aus. Sat 27th March, 8.30pm turn your lights out for one hour to make a stand against climate change. http://www.earthhour.org/

i wonder...
will you be joining in?
what little things do you like to do to make a small impact and support the planet?
how many babies are born nine months after earth hour?:shehumper:

me...yep the lights will go out in 10mins. seems like there's a few houses having bbq's to celebrate in my street (yet no-one invited me...odd...).
i am a mad rubbish sorter. i get really annoyed (like angry, as if someone's out to get me) if a yohgurt container goes in the regular rubbish instead of recycling. i don't know why it makes me crazy but it does!!:2mo5pow:

Yes 33 minutes to go for us - 8.30pm Sat night. Trouble is I have some pelmets to recover with a hot glue gun before tommorrow and not sure I can see with candle light!!! Although apparently you have to buy the beeswax candles as the normal ones make a bigger carbon footprint than lights!! Ironic!

So yes - forth year for us - we were doing it along with Sydney in 2007- good on Sydney for inventing this wonderful thing!

Gee, I didn't even know about this. =( Maybe we can play scrabble. Or go for a walk on the beach...

I didn't know about it either :-(
I don't think I will turn my lights off though...maybe next year :)

I guess it's big in Aus because it started here. I turned off all my lights, the telly, the PC, and thought, oh well, I'll just read a book.

hmmm. it was tricky while holding the torch, but i did it.

I did it last year ... didn't know it was today though ... hhhhmmmmm ... it's 6:30pm here in the UK, so I've still got plenty of time!

It's still early in the day here, so I think I might surprise the fam and suggest that we turn out the lights and hang outside and watch the stars. **shrug** We'll see. Daniel will already be in bed. Maybe we should just go to bed early.

Just saw this thread as the clock turned to 8:30...it's a pretty big deal here in Canada, I almost forgot about it though...just ran around and turned off the lights (there were only 3 on actually)....so now I'm sitting here in the dark with my computer on. DH is at the Hockey game (no lights off there lol).
