View Full Version : Paypal issues anyone?
I'm really, really upset: Paypal has decided to limit my account because they believe that someone else is using it. I was in the middle of transaction - paying for a kit with a coupon - when it told me I had to confirm my address by sending some document proving the address - how ridiculous!!!
It was Paypal's secure server - there was a series of security questions, etc...
I logged into Paypal a couple of times after that and it always showed the same: that it has to be reviewed, 3 days, bla bla bla
I sent a bank account statement where I hid all the data except the name and the address, will see....
I know there were issues with freezing peoples' accounts an such years ago, I would think they are more careful now!
grrrrrrr!!!:angry::breadroller::tantrumsmiley:

Buying too much for iNSD maybe ? :25r30wi:
Your hubby probably called Paypal and asked them to do that so you give up on buying stuff :giggle:
I had no problems...yet, knock on wood.
I did receive a message that people (private not companies accounts) living in Japan won't be able to send or receive money with their Paypal account from now on. I didn't use that account for anything else than buying stuffs but when you think about it we could have sent some money to my parents in law in Korea very easily. Too bad.
Anyway, I hope it's nothing too big and that it will be solved very fast. Good luck !:flower2:

Romy Romy Romy...................hun! Just be very careful! If I were you I would stop that altogether now and just create a whole new paypal!
NOW THEY HAVE YOUR ADDRESS! Hun...............!??? I hope it's all secure. have you checked your credit card statement? Just sounds suspect to me.
I just deleted our family credit card and just added my own personal one so you can just stop it. But I think you should create a whole new one - same card - just different Paypal account!
BUT........the best thing with a credit card is that if someone does steal the details then you are not liable for it! If it was your personal account then there's not much you can do.....I always pay by credit card!
I hope it's OK hun.
Like Nini said - maybe it was the huz trying to stop you spending!!!!!!!!!! :biggrin8:

Oh my things sounds very annoying!! Couldn't they say who they think was trying to use it?
If you have security then it should be alright? Instead of blocking it and asking for tons of info??
I haven't had this yet *knocks on wood* but this sucks big time indeed so a big (((((o)))))

give 'em a call and find out what is taking so long. Might be good it came up if someone tried to use your account w/out you knowing.. still annoying though.
btw you can't open a new paypal w/ the same cc it would have to be a different one.. than there is a name issue.. yea they'll block it all from opening another account.
I had an email from Paypal this morning saying that the account is restored and everything is working fine except for the fact I used a coupon here at Mscraps during that transaction and it doesn't work at the store anymore. I will have to resolve this with Joyce.
I found that one of my Paypal transactions had a different address, no idea how it got there! Plus, my "back-up" credit card was expired... all that probably made Paypal all worried about the security of my account! :-))) how nice of them!!!!!!
I should add: one of my hubby's areas of expertise is internet security, maybe a tiny fraction of his knowledge may have passed on to me... I am very vigilant about if I am on secure server, what email do I open, I check all my transactions - so does my DH and he KNOWS how much I spend!!!! :nono:
and yes Nini - my first thought was that I had too many purchases during iNSD!!!!!!!!:giggle:

Paypal never dumped or froze me, but I did have to establish a new password a few months ago. Apparently, they are prime hacking territory and are very, very vigilant about security! Oh, yes, and I forgot to update the credit card account I usually use, so they were processing through my other one. I was confused for a few hours on that one.
You know, I've been married nearly 47 years and I cannot remember my husband ever (and I mean ever) asking me how much money I was spending, nor on what! He was the primary bread winner, but he knew I knew what I was doing and let me do it. I cannot imagine being in a situation where a) my husband would interfere in any way with my spending or 2) question what I was doing with OUR money! It would have taken me exactly 30 seconds to pack and leave!

LOL Jean, you are a real "firecracker!" I love that. My DH doesn't question me with money issues either, but if I spend too much I feel guilty, probably because he's so nice about it! p.s, love your avatar!!!!!!
my hubby lets me do what I want - he is very sweet actually: when I started digiscrapping last year, I got a new iMac and a tablet!
he checks the bank statement in whole - not just my transactions - who doesn't isn't being careful (!!)
and if there are too many Paypal payments he raises his eyebrows and says something about collecting stuff!!
no interfering:wink2:

My DH is the same. I'm allowed to spend some money because he does it to with his online game(s). But after the iNSD shopping trip he raised his brows to and said he was trying his best to understand why I want kits that I will only use a few times.. :25r30wi:
I too feel guilty then when I spend a little too much. He will be getting the iNSD money back from my account.
@romy FAB that its all cleared now!:flower2:

Many, many years ago, my husband and I received exactly the same amount of a money gift for his graduation and my birthday (they were the same day). He bought golf clubs; I bought draperies for the livingroom! I learned a very valuable lesson that day. We each have our discretionary money and we respect the other person's dumb choices (I mean, do you really need a $1,000 fly reel and rod? Or another putter—the one that will solve that pesky golf problem? I actually think he's thrilled with the digital scrapbooking because it doesn't take up any room! And last year, he made me get a new computer, because the old one was too slow! In fact, he's the one who encourages me to spend money. Sometimes, when I really want something I really don't think I should spend the money on, I will take him with me, because he always says, “If you really want it, get it.” Am I lucky? Yesterday, for Mother's Day, he bought me the second arbor (and it's gorgeous). I would have probably just insisted that one was enough, but he knew I really did think two would be ideal.
Since I budget my foolishness very carefully, I never feel guilty about what I spend. And I am very good at waiting…besides, guess who handles the finances? He's the CPA with no interest in the daily dullness of bills, investment accounts, etc. It makes it easy, especially when you are frugal, as I am.

I'm glad everything is fine now.
You have a very nice hubby. I'm the one doing the "accounting" here so there's not much my hubby could see :giggle: but I consider ;yself careful for my spendings and my accounts. He is simply happy I don't buy any Vuitton bags or Cartier jewelry like many Japanese women would do... I'm not Japanese of course but we live in Japan so we see that a lot :giggle:
We are very lucky gals aren't we ?! :winking0071:

Collecting stuff! I like that one! You have a good husband Romy just like mine he sound like your best friend also which if he is like mine you can never keep secrets from.
My DH teases me and always says are you 'crap-booking' again? Which I then smile and :giggle: 'yep'
