Is anyone making digital / photographic presents for the holidays ?

Last year I made my cousin and her hubby (I'm godmother to their second daughter) a serving tray that had 9 pictures of them and their 3 kids in. A bit of retouching on the pictures and all recolored in the same shade. It looked great and they were so touched by it ! And if the kids grow up, we can change the pictures.

This year I'm trying to make some CD Case calendars for my mum and mother-in-law, hope I get them finished in time.

Any more ideas for this or next year ?

I did a big calendar for my mom and dad. And I will be making photo book marks for my kids for school instead of Christmas cards!!

You could make hybrid advent calendars. Or do those cookie-in-a-jar things and make the labels and recipe cards from your digi stash. Or just do a bunch of favourite family recipes on recipe cards and put them in a cute 4x6 album.

In June we had my Great Grandma's 90th birthday, we had family pictures and such taken there. So I'm making my Great Grandma a scrap book of pictures from that day. She tells us every year not to buy her stuff because she's trying to get rid of everything haha.

I also make mousepads for my parents every year with the kids pictures on them. They then take them to their work offices to use. My MIL collects coffee mugs with the kids pictures on them from each year too. It used to be a cup for each kid but we have 4 kids now and her house would be soon overrun with coffee mugs lol

I made an album about our stay at my brother's in the French island "La Réunion", in the Indian Ocean and I will be offering it to my mom and dad, mother-in-law and brother for Christmas. I am like you, Ona, I don't think I will have much time to do more unfortunately but I like reading your ideas.

I make calendars every year, and photobooks. Fridge magnets for the teachers, mugs for friends...

Such great ideas ! If I don't find the time this year, I'll sure note them down for next year. :biggrin8:

Thanks !

I end up not doing as many gifts as I would like to, but I have volunteered to put together simple albums for some elderly people I know. most of them don't know how to use a computer or their eyesight is going, so I use a simple template, a lot of conversation, my scanner and try to put a “My Life” kind of album every year. The word of mouth since I did the first one a couple of years ago has spread, so I usually have many more requests than I can possibly fulfill. I'm working on getting a few other people involved. It's pretty straight-forward, only costs time, not money, and I get a lot of satisfaction from it.

I am hoping to make my youngest DGD a "Who Loves Ashley" cloth photo book. It will have all her Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Mom, Dad and Sister. I made one for her older sister when she was her age. It came out cute, though I am gonna redesign the binding on it as it was way to hard to sew all the pages together...LOL

I print the pages out on the iron on transfer paper (making sure I mirrored my image before printing. Then I ironed each page to white muslin and then sewed it together. She still has the book and loves it as does her sister. I really need to get on that...luckly we aren't getting together for Christmas until the end of January. phew!!!
