View Full Version : Printing on Tissue

I just discovered I could print on tissue paper (which opens all sorts of possibilities, like decoupage, tissue to match paper, wrapping around picture frames, mod-podging to canvas, etc). I think you would have to have a straight-line printer (mine is an Epson, which is straight-line), or you would need a bypass. I just glued along the top of a plain piece of paper, made sure to trim the tissue to fit and it went right through the printer. I used it on the hybrid box with paper I just posted to HeatherT.
what is straight-line, Jean, the regular inkjet?

Romy, it just means that the paper doesn't have to roll around (like most laser printers). My Epson loads right side up at the back and just slides down and out, engaging some little teeth as it goes. I think that is the way most inkjets work but I'm not completely sure. But my Epson also has a by-pass at the back where you can feed thick stuff, where the teeth in the regular path wouldn't work. You kind of push the paper through to where it will start printing, then engage the mechanism that feeds it. My HP laser has a bypass too, where you feed envelopes, etc. at the front (with front facing up), whereas if you use the paper bin you have to load the paper with the front side down and it rolls around inside the printer before it prints. Does this make any sense at all?
I know what you mean, thanks!!

That is AWESOME! I dont have a straight printer OR a bypass option. Mine all roll through the top or bottom.
I've tried to put other papers through some of my office printers and eventually, the extra fibers that strayed out caused jams and problems with the printers.
LOVE this tho. Can't wait to see what else you do!

Jean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is absolutely amazing! My goodness!!!! WOW +!
I think you should email this photo to Kristy Evans, editor of Scrapbooking Memories magazine for the "off the page" feature. If she accepts it and you do a mini tutorial on how to do it - there could be $100 or so in it for you. That could be for Australian residents only - but anyway - just email it to her (and say that Suzie Griffith told you to!!!)kevans@expresspublications.com.au

I love love love it!!!
I actually made some candles for my mother (for her birthday). I just taped the tissue to a piece of premium presentation paper and ran it through my printer. It worked just fine.

how did you transfer those designs to the candles?

After printing on the tissue (all on one sheet) like I said in my last post, I cut out all the images (as close to the images as possible), place the image on the candle, use heating tool (heat gun) over image until the desired amount of wax covers the image. Try not to keep the heat in one spot for too long or it will warp the candle. You can also use wax paper to hold the image against the candle while heating and avoid warping the candle.
I hope that made sense. I'm still a little out of it due to health issues and medication. If not let me know and I will do my best to clarify things. :flower2:

I'm so glad my idea put a genius moment in your mind. Your candles are wonderful. I'm going to root around the basement and see if I have any decent candles on which to experiment. I love this idea
