Dipping my toes...

Some horrible tech gnats infiltrated everything electronic a few months ago and I lost most of my photos and almost all of my scrapping stash. This sent me on a crazy spiral where I didn't even touch a computer except for work or child-related crafty thing for months. It was like I had (well still have, actually) Post-traumatic stress disorder.

Then, I saw a post by Heather T and kept going back to it (on FB) and couldn't resist checking out the templates on Mscraps. Next thing I know, I was THREE and A HALF hours browsing the store. 3.5 hours. Seriously. I think I bought the entire store. OK, well, I didn't, but considering, I'm too scared to create something then lose it again, that I may not even use any of the stuff I bought... I may as well have bought the store. lol

Anyway... just wanted to say that the designers here have been busy making some really great kits while I was away. Just beautiful.

Now... who can I pay to extract and organize the 60 zip files I just downloaded? hmmmmm. Anyone?

LOL

OMG Linda!!! *lol* 60 zips???

And I'm really sorry your computer gnats (cute name, though) drove you to distraction! Hopefully you didn't inhale too many. If you did, remember they're just extra protein...

So glad to see you back on the forum!

Welcome back!!!!!

my tip for zips: open them one kit at a time!!! but of course that won't happen... so in that case, get Picasa!

Enjoy!!! and....

MAKE BACKUPS!!!!!

oh no!!! your photos, Linda??????? :-(((((((
I wondered where you were!!!

Picasa is good on Windows...I use good plain Finder on Mac for organizing and searching....and Adobe Bridge that comes with Photoshop CS for tagging and editing metadata

for those who didn't know - in Finder on Macs, you can have size of a folder preview close to real 600x600px and I take pain (not pain actually, it takes two seconds) to plaster the previews on the top of my folder so I can see nicely what's in them...*sighing contently*....

backups, backups, backups - at several places...photos are too valuable to loose...

Oh good grief, what an utter nightmare for you, I've had hard disk failure before but luckily the store did a data recovery for me for about £100. I was lucky as I hadn't backed up my photos for four years. Saying that I backed up eveything onto a new EHD (and deleted some store kits from my pc to release space) and the EHD died irretrievably. I'm not relying on a EHD any more I can tell you.

I have to say that is one heck of a shopping spree you had there. The designers HAVE been busy in producing deliciousness you are so right there. I don't envy you your unzizpping and organising task you have ahead of you. I think I would go for a couple of kits at a time and have a play with those and go through them in batches.

i know! my bad on the backing up. I actually did back some up, but then started relying on the EHD, got a false sense of security and thats the drive that failed... which is why it had all my photos and completed scrapbook pages.

So far, Ive made one LO - not finished.

too bad I cant just materialize the ideas from inside my head!
