Post Photoshop: Quick Keys

- as requested by Lisa (dlhoffer):

OMG! I am the PS shortcut queen!!! Here's ones I use all the time!!!:

Ctrl J = copies layer you are on and pastes it again (great for repeat elements!)
Ctrl Z = undo
Ctrl alt z = undo back again and again! (set up at least 50 undos in your cusomise bit!)
Ctrl 0 = show page on whole screen
Ctrl + = zoom in
Ctrl - = zoom out
Ctrl W = close that particular file in PS
Ctrl E = goes to the bottom of the layers palette (great for paper changing!)
Ctrl R = rulers (with move tool selected you can drag a line in and out for perfect positioning)
Ctrl T = Transform (Ctrl and drag one of the squares for distort)
Ctrl U = hue/saturation
Ctrl S = Save!
Ctrl N = new (and save your 12x12 as a custom - mine always opens automatically!)
Alt Ctrl I = image size
Shift Ctrl Alt B = B&W
Shift Ctrl S = save as
Shift Ctrl Alt S = save for web
..........................er...................... .....
Ctrl L = levels
Ctrl E = merge layers
.............mmmmm.............can't think of any more!!
oh of course:
Ctrl ] = more (as in brush size for example)
ctrl [ = less
Ctrl ' = grid

Then you have the F buttons - you HAVE to know about these!!!
F1 - can't remember!
F2 = Cut
F3 = copy
F4 = paste
F5 = brushes
F6 = colours
F7 = layers
F12 = revert to saved copy

Then you have the numbers above the letters on your keyboard...........VERY important!!! They are the opacity. So if you are brushing and want 50% - hit the 5; If the layer you are working on needs to be faded by 30% you hit 7 (being 70% opacity), etc. Anythuing you are working on and hit those numbers will change it! The smudge tool but you only want a tiny bit - hit 1 for 10%!

Then you have the letter shortcuts - OK lets see if I can do them all...........I don't use them all though! I used to have a PS keyboard but lost that with the laptop! But they had all worn away anyway!

Q - ? don't use!
W - wand - magic wand!
E - Eraser
R - Blur tool/smudge tool
T - text of course
Y - history brush
U - ? don't use!
I - the colour picker
O - ??? can't remember!!! I use it occasionally - oh what is it!!! I'm not going to cheat!
P - at a guess that would be Pen tool - I don't use that anyway!!! Too scary!!!
A - no idea!
S - Clone
D - Dunno? Oh desaturate sponge tool????? Guessing here!
F - no idea!
G - gradient?? Oh I know paint bucket! I think that IS gradient too!
H - Hand tool
J - band aid thing - spot healing!!!
K - no idea!
L - Lasso
Z - Zoom
X - oh what is X??? Cut!!! That's it!
C - Crop tool
V - move tool
B - brush
N - at a guess that little Note tool that I never use!!
M - marching ants

Anyway that's my test over and done with!!! I am sure there's a website with the whole lot on! For the letters you just press the V for example whilst in PS and it activates the move tool.

So go - get into Photoshop and start pressing the keys rather than the mouse! Maybe you can fill the gaps in for me!

You probably knew all those!!!

I'm sure there's heaps more!

OK...............I'll leave the above as is............but here is the official Photoshop Quick Key list:
