Wow Ona - my kind of trip!!!!!!!!!!!! Was worried about length of time in London - but I see you are going back at the end.
Hmmmmm London-York then to Scotland. Not much time in York! It is so beautiful there and heaps to do. PLEASE - DO THE HAUNTED TOUR!!!! It's supposed to be the best haunted tour in the world. Everyone who has done it raved about it! Bath is beautiful too. Cardiff, Glastonbury & Plymouth - hmmmm.........! Lakes District is stunning - make sure you get some Kendal Mint Cake! Yum! Luxembourg - I went for a weekend - not much to do there! Glasgow - yeah good luck with the accents!

If there is a Glasgow soccer match on when you are there no one will be on the streets as they will all be watching football on the tellie!
If you get a break in London and feel like some Surrey countryside then I would recommend taking the train from London Waterloo to Guildford (40 minutes/30 express) The Guildford tuorist info is right at the station and they will tell you what buses and trains you can get. The most photographed village in England is Shere. I lived 5 minutes from there. It is full of thatched cottages, churches and pubs and a cute little stream with ducks and bridges. Pubs everywhere. The one on the main road opposite the church has fabulous "pub grub" and a lovely garden. I think Shere has a train station. Very small. There's also Albrey and heaps of other villages around. The single track roads with massive horse chestnut trees along the banks................*SIGH* I miss home.............! Anyway Shere is the postcard English village. That church has been in so many movies, in fact 4 weddings and a funeral wedding in the snow was there and only saw that a couple of nights ago! You would not be disappointed. You can do any shopping in Guildford too - it is a medieval city so has a cobbled high street and many tudor buildings (some ruined with a big M on the front *TUT*!
Anyway food for thought.
Here's a link how to get to Shere:

Ah the pub with the good pub grub is the White Horse - need to get there early if a weekend.
Truly it would be a great day out and not hard to get to or do. My Dad might pick you up from Guildford and drive you around. He is a good fun interesting guy and you would not feel awkward or anything. I might email him and ask if he would mind. He is retired so sometimes needs stuff to do!
