Awesome!!

Does anyone know if there's a shortcut to 'place' an item? I maybe just missed it but didn't see anything.

"Place" an item ? Not sure what you mean, is that after moving, resizing, adding something ?
Isn't that just Enter ?

No, when you have your blank layout and you want to add an element to it you can go to File < Place .. and it will put the paper, element, etc right onto you layout. Also when I make myself a sig or card I use this because it will resize the element to fit into your canvas.

This way I don't have a million files open while I work.

Never did it like that, will have to try, specially the resize might be useful in some cases.

I just drag and drop papers/elements etc. directly from windows explorer to photoshop with only the layout open in PS. Then move, resize as needed and click the tick (not the bug) or press enter.
Whatever you drag is dropped on a layer just above the layer you are on.

Thanks for that, I'm just starting to learn photoshop (I use something else for scrapping) and it's bloody scary! This will be very useful.

I would love to seriously, one day..... when I know my car is all ok and won't cack out on me (i've had 6 months of hell with it and even going from Freo to Bull Creek was quite the expedition! it's got a new very expensive part now, so I'm hoping it'll behave, but i haven't really driven much since it got fixed, just to work and back, more or less..... but yes, one day I'd love to go to your place and see your wildlife and Photoshop
I went to about.com and am following the course there a bit, but I realised that I definitely need to update my glasses's prescription!!! All those icons on Photoshop are way too small for my current glasses... the joys of being over 40!!!
