Post How to: replace pictures, change credits, etc. in Gallery

Uploaded wrong photo or credit to gallery?

Have you ever uploaded a LO, and later noticed you needed to make a correction to your journalling, you fixed a shadow that wasn't quite right, or maybe you posted a LO with the wrong credits? I have...

It's always a shame to lose the lovely comments if we have to change a picture, or to waste an upload for the day.

What if you got a GSO and need to update your page, change the credits because you put down the wrong kit, change the category, etc?

THERE IS A WAY!!!

Go to the picture you want to change.

Just above the picture, to the right, there's a link that says "PHOTO OPTIONS", you will most likely need to click this twice

click on that link, then you click on "EDIT PHOTO"

You will then see a familiar page, it looks a lot like the panel you get when you upload a photo (your panel might look a wee bit different, I use Chrome for my browser)

Once you are in there you can
edit the title of your LO
change the keywords
change the credits,
Upload a new photo,
change or add a category
Here, it can get tricky if you've already added a category, they don't always seem to all show all the time, so proceed with caution for the categories! I believe if you add them when you uploaded your picture, then they all show up, but if you add them one at a time, you might not have them all show up in the edit panel.
To change the photo you just upload a new one where it says "Select new image or leave blank to use current one:"

And there you go, credits updated, or photo changed, without losing comments or having to delete the old photo and upload a new one.

NOTE:
It is possible, once you have done that, that the thumbnail or image doesn't update immediately, this is normal. You can try CTRL+F5 to refresh the page without using your browser's cache, or clear your cache and wait. Your new image will show up soon.

{If this doesn't work, using a different name for the replacement photo is also a good option but this will break all links to your image in the forum, e.g.: challenge threads or GSO threads, so changing the name of the file you upload is a very last resort option}

If you have questions about this, feel free to ask in this thread, and we'll try to help you out.

You know, I use this feature quite often to copy the credits when I'm posting to other galleries too. That way I can easily paste what I know will work and what is already formatted nicely.

Sincerely,
Lazy Me.
