I've lost my styles!

I think I had a major CS crash, though it worked fine after the crash, and today, my settings are all lost. I've restored my workspace, and can reload all the styles and brushes, etc, but... I've lost the styles I had created... I thought they would just save themselves (not sure how, but that's what I thought anyhow!).... and they didn't! (go figure!)...

Anyway, I'm off to go browse and figure out how to save my own ASL file, then I'm going to open pages where I remember having used those styles and will make sure I save them into the ASL file.

a) vent my frustration and despair
b) in case it ever helps someone (if you make a style, save it!)

Styles don't save themselves (that sounds a bit silly ), you have got to save them.

Bummer! This has happened to me so many times that now any time I create a style, I save it immediately! Hope you get it worked out.

Thanks Amy! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one it happens/happened to!!! I'll have to get motivated to find the styles first... for now I'm using Loreta's and they make me happy at least it's a good place to start.

oh well. Thanks for your thoughts... I've learned a lesson (though I have to say I now have another EHD I use just for backup.... and now I had to look at EHD twice because I thought I'd seen EHStuDios..... been scrapping you see!!! )

it's ok though, I only had 3 or 4 "handmade" styles... but I can only remember ONE of them!!!

Someone needs to run through and explain how these things work and what they are...I never use them because I dont' know what to do with them...but if I knew I am sure I would love them and use them......France what do you use them for and how do you make them...you should write a tutorial and then remember to tell us all to SAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do that with pages all of a sudden the computer freezes and GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me very angry.....

maybe you saved them but you can't find them?
before my latest OS update, I had styles and brushes and such in two folders (my stupid system) but now, with new Lion (Mac OS), the parent folder is hidden and I had to look them up and move them to another folder.

did you search your comp for anything .asl ?

hmmm, me, tutorial, PS? You have got to be kidding! But I have to say, the first time I got a style was My Shadows Collection (CU) by Loreta Labarca I figured, nothing to lose. I could do a mini tute I guess... but Karen, really, if *I* can do it, I'm sure YOU can!!!

First thing I did... all the .asl are the ones I bought/or came with the program.
