Hi all
a while back I was cursing and very annoyed that I made a laborious text box around some elements (so my journalling would not be obscured by the elements in question) only to decide to change an element and have my text obscured!
I didn't know how to edit a text path (I know how to make it bigger, but I needed to refine more precisely than that) so I came here, and I was told what I pretty much had figured out, that I just had to start all over, there was no way to edit.
But I'm stubborn sometimes, and kept looking around (after getting very frustrated another time and having to redo my text box a few too many times) and found out a neat trick!
Heather had a great tutorial on that last year, for the Typography Challenges
Typography Challenge 6 - Shaped Text Paths
Here it is in note form so I can remember what I did. (I work in CS)
Selecting the pen tool, make your path
type in your text (Heather's tute is handy for this bit... the I shape thing with the circle thingie)
to edit the path:
go to the path selection tool (the one to the left of the Text Tool)
and right click, and select “Direct Selection Tool”
Click on your path, and you can edit the nodes.
If you need to add nodes to refine your editing, go back to the Pen Tool and use the “add anchor” and “remove anchor”
options.
it worked for me, it should work for you.
now this is probably not new to many of you, but it's new to me!!! Maybe it'll help someone one day, and when I forget how to do it, I can come back here!!!
